    – South Sumatra Regional Police (Polda Sumsel) launched a large-scale patrol involving 235 joint personnel to maintain public order and security. The operation began with a roll call led by Director of Special Criminal Investigation Kombes Pol Bagus Surapratomo SIK at the Polda Sumsel headquarters, Sunday night (Aug 31, 2025).

Polda Sumsel Spokesperson, Kombes Pol Nandang Mu’min Wijaya SIK MH, confirmed that the overall situation across the province remains safe and under control.

“Community activities are running normally. Polda Sumsel, along with Polrestabes, Polres, and local police stations, continue to carry out policing activities in a humanistic approach to ensure public safety,” he said.

The patrol also involved collaboration with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), community leaders, religious figures, youth groups, and journalists to strengthen communication and preventive measures.

The patrol route covered Palembang’s main roads, including Sudirman, Demang Lebar Daun, Arivai, Angkatan 45, Merdeka, Soekarno-Hatta, Kambang Iwak, Jakabaring, and Veteran areas, with additional units on standby at headquarters.

“The purpose of this operation is to provide protection for the community and maintain a conducive security situation. Officers prioritize persuasive measures in line with SOPs, including public appeals, education, and visible presence. However, if anarchic actions occur, firm and measured law enforcement will be taken,” Nandang emphasized.

He also encouraged the public to actively report potential disturbances through Bhabinkamtibmas officers, the emergency hotline 110, or directly to local police chiefs.

“We are here to educate, advise, and protect. Maintaining security is a shared responsibility, as the police are here for the people,” he concluded*dhyan
